Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry Chapter of IRIA is one of the oldest state branches of Indian Radiological & Imaging Association and was established in 1946. The first annual conference of IRIA was held in Madras in the year 1946. Madras was nominated as the headquarters of IRIA in the same year. The Indian Journal of Radiology was also published in the year 1947 with Madras as the headquarters and with Dr Rama Rao & Dr K M Rai as the joint editors.
TN&PY IRIA has grown leaps & bounds in the last 75 years thanks to the stalwarts of radiology in Tamil Nadu. TN&PY IRIA has now almost 3000 members and is the second largest state branch of IRIA. There are now 9 Subchapters of TN&PY IRIA running academic programs and member welfare programs thought the year. Recently the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of TN&PY IRIA was organized in a grand manner in December 2022 at Chennai.
TN&PY IRIA has got the opportunity to organize 6 National Conferences of IRIA. It is a moment of great pride that TN&PY IRIA has been selected as the host for the 23rd Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology & the 77th Annual Conference of Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (AOCR 2025).
